CHRISTMAS DAY
I love Christmas Day in Colombia because it is the best celebration during the year. To me it is a special moment of peace and happiness. Christmas is the perfect time to believe, to be good with other people who live with us and the opportunity to change our lives.
Christmas time can change the differences between people I think that Christmas is the unique time of the year in which people are united without war and fighting. The only reason, it is because the birth of Jesus. People like atheists, Buddhists or non-Christians who do not believe in Jesus think that celebrate Christmas is the perfect time to stay with their families. So, Christmas is the most important celebration because it represents a special time of peace. People have the opportunity to change and be a better person making this time even better.
The most important things that the people like to do at Christmas time are: People decorate their houses with the Christmas tree, send cards to their family and friends, the illumination of the streets with figures of Santa Claus, Who is a friendly person who gives at Christmas night gifts to the good children. Many people prepare the Christmas dinner and make the nativity scene.
In Colombia, many families pray novena every night with the representation of Mary, Joseph and Jesus in the nativity scene. For example, my family puts the nativity scene in the living room. Every night all of the members of the family pray and share a little time of peace and happiness. As Catholics, we appreciate so much the birth of Jesus in Nazareth and we love to represent that special scene for all humanity.
My idea of special Christmas time is based on happiness for the people who forget the differences with others and are good without war and violence. I really wish that this time could be longer, or pass less fast to keep the calm and everybody forget the differences. I hate the discrimination because we are the same human beings. Christmas time gives us the opportunity to change differences among people and be good on earth.
It`s time to leave the discrimination among people and change actitudes not only at Christmas, but in the rest of our lives. Jesus left us a message of peace which He really wants the people to change. Because he does everything to attract us to the goodness and his acts on earth, He gives us life lessons. We can prove that the happiness is becoming a good person.
This is a reason enough to love Christmas and I am the happiest with this time of the year.
