Imagine That

Imagine That (2009) is directed by Karey Kirkpatrick. The genre of the film is comedy and fantasy. The movie is very good because the quality of the pictures, illumination, spaces and the shots of the video camera are according to the setting of the movie. The movie does not have special effects, but it is a good movie. The soundtrack is amazing because it recalls the good values through songs like “all you need is love” from the Beatles. The comedy makes the film unoriginal. The plot of the movie does not attract the viewers.  For that reason this movie did not sell out all the tickets. The central insight of the film is Evan, a successful financial executive who has more time for his job than his daughter Olivia. One day he starts having a crisis of confidence on his career. So he feels down in the dumps. However, he finds the solution to all his problems in his daughter´s imaginary world.

Evan Danielson, a financial executive who was abandoned by his wife, does not have time for his 7-year-old daughter Olivia. Evan has no idea what to do with his daughter. The girl pays attention to everything that he says and does. The princesses Cupida, Mopida and Kuali are Olivia’s imaginary friends. They come up with advice on how he should manage his business at work. The princesses are always right. When Evan finally starts following their suggestions, he becomes a superstar at work and he also has a little fun with his daughter. One day Olivia feels bad because she thinks that her dad only wants to be with her due to the princesses’ predictions and not for her. Finally, he quits his job for her daughter´s musical at school. He learns that his job skills were always inside of him. He also learns how to be a better father to Olivia.

The movie is funny, but the comedy was overacted with exaggerated jokes and that makes the film unoriginal. The soundtrack is good because remains good values in songs like “all you need is love” from the Beatles. This film is recommended to parents because it leaves them a message. It teaches to have a good relationship with their children during their childhood. The film did not fill up the theaters because the film is the typical version of family comedy that everyone knows. For example, when I saw a movie for the second time it turns to be boring. I love the films that have an original script and new stories to tell. My opinion is that the producers should add more visual effects because it could change the movie and attract more viewers.
